Other Types of Composting
- Pot-holing” is burying food waste in small holes in the
ground. Sometimes waste is placed at the bottom of the hole before
new shrubs and trees are planted.
- “Mulching” is
a layer of organic matter spread on the top of the soil to protect
the plants from drying out or being overgrown with weeds. Some local
governments chip branches and leaves to make mulch. It can then be
used on gardens.
- “Liquid
fertilizer” is made by putting organic waste into a big container
of water and leaving it to rot. The water becomes rich with nutrients and can be poured on plants.
