Telstra's Reduce Activities, continued
Reducing Resource Use
Telstra
is working to reduce its daily resource consumption by:
- Educating its staff to reduce the need to print or copy documents
such as emails and reports, and to keep information online, as ways
of reducing paper consumption as well as conserving energy and inks
used by printers and photocopiers.
- Arranging meetings through video-conferences and teleconferences,
Telstra can meet with its staff, clients and customers efficiently while
saving time and reducing the need for transportation.
Telstra is also helping customers to reduce their resource consumption:
- Online billing and customer information through the Telstra Bigpond
website helps reduce resource consumption by reducing the need to rely
on paper, printing and travel.
- Telstra products and services are helping companies, students and
other individuals gain access to important information for research
and education without the need for travelling. Using Telstra services,
people can do research, communicate with people all over the world and
even go to school online.
- Telstra also plans to undertake more actions to reduce the amount
of packaging materials associated with Telstra products in order to
avoid unnecessary waste.
Life-Cycle Analysis
At
Telstra, we are working with the suppliers of all products and materials
that we use to operate our business.
Telstra looks at the environmental aspects of the life-cycle of these
products and materials with the aim of influencing better alternative
or innovative ways to minimise environmental impacts.
