Ollie arrives in America's Midwest !!!

The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) and RAM member Mark Heieren have launched Ollie USA, Inc.! RAM's Executive Director Paul Gardner was a technical advisor for the US edition of Ollie Saves the Planet, and he and Heieren developed a business proposal so that Ollie can reach students in Minnesota and throughout the central United States.

"When I first saw the Australian version of Ollie Saves the Planet, I knew that there wasn't anything like it in this country. The content has so much depth and flexibility that teachers can use it in different ways at different grade levels. Ollie will fulfil two dozen Minnesota state science standards for grades one through eight. We just had to be a part of it."

Heieren, a recycled materials broker and a former teacher himself, and Gardner put their heads together to make Ollie USA, Inc. available. Heieren owns Ollie USA and RAM will do the marketing and outreach to teachers, solid waste and recycling officials, and sponsors.

RAM had a booth at the National Recycling Congress in Minneapolis in August 2005, where hundreds of American recyclers got to experience Ollie! RAM and Ollie USA will reach out to teachers in October 2005 at the Education Minnesota conference, where thousands of Minnesota's teachers come for continuing education. The day after, Ollie will be at the bi-annual conference of the Minnesota Science Teachers Association.
