Ollie wows them at an international conference
The 6th Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Production and Consumption
was held in Melbourne between the 24-26th October 2005. More than 300
delegates from around the world attended this three-day forum which
consisted of themed sessions, presentation of papers, concurrent panel
discussions, plant visits and other activities designed to stimulate
debate and meet head-on the challenges posed by the threats to our
environment.
Jane Stewart spoke on the first day of the conference and presented the Ollie’s Island Program to a full room of government, business and community representatives. Although Ollie’s Island is aimed at students two members of the audience stood up and congratulated the producers of the program on the quality of the content and suggested that it should be given to “business executives” to learn about issues of sustainable consumption.
This was an exciting acknowledgment and one that has led to the creation of networks to use the Ollie’s Island Program in community outreach activities.
