The Whyalla Eco Renovation Information Centre
The
Whyalla Eco Renovation Information Centre is a renovation
project being undertaken in Whyalla, South Australia as a joint
venture between the South Australian Housing
Trust,
the Whyalla City Council and Energy SA. The aim of the project
is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to the home, whilst
supporting renewable energy industries, demonstrating Ecological
Sustainable Development principles, and advancing Whyalla as
an ecologically sustainable city.
Sustain Ability International is pleased to support WERIC and
has donated some copies of the Ollie Saves the Planet CD ROM for
use on site. Ollie Recycles CD ROMS were also donated to local
schools who painted environmentally themed banners for WERIC promotions.
The CD ROMs were presented to the schools at the opening of WERIC
on the 5th of June, 2003.
The Ollie Saves the Planet Program was also used in a presentation
to the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) Solar World Congress
held in Sweden in June 2003. The presentation covered the variety
of approaches to education on household energy use at WERIC, including
the use of interactive computer activities such as Ollie Saves
the Planet. Copies of the CD ROM were donated for use and distribution
at the Congress.
