- Make a list of all the different types of things in your house that are made of paper, or contain paper.
- Do your parents read the newspapers? Collect all the newspapers and magazines that your family uses in a week, and weigh them on a
set of kitchen or bathroom scales. How much paper does your family use in a week? Can you work out how much you would use in a month? How about a year?
- How strong is paper? Using only a roll of sticky tape and some used sheets of paper, make a structure which can be tested for strength.
Try piling magazines or books on top to see how many it will hold before collapsing!
(Hint: Try folding or rolling the paper into different shapes to increase its strength)
