If you rethink before you buy, and find out the consequences of what you buy, you can really reduce your impact on the environment. When you go shopping:

• Ask yourself “what do I need?” instead of “what do I want?”. Decide what you need and how much you need before you walk out the front door, and think about the best way of buying it.
  
  
• Try not to be influenced by advertising. The most expensive product, or the one that’s on TV the most, isn’t necessarily the best. Make your own choices by taking into account how the product is made, where it’s made, what it’s made from, how it’s packaged, and even how the company treats local communities.
