How to Reduce Your Ecological Footprint
The best way for richer countries to reduce their ecological footprint is
for individuals to take action at home:
Reduce
- Buy
goods which have little or no packaging, when possible.
- Buy
products that are durable — that is, they last a long time.
- Try
to buy food which is locally grown, unprocessed and in-season.
- Grow
some of your own vegetables and herbs if you have a back garden
or balcony.
- Only
buy as much as you need.
- Conserve energy in the
home.
- Conserve water in the home.
- Think
about how, when and where you travel, and try to spend less time
in your car.
- Buy
products which are made using renewable
resources and renewable
energy sources.
