Recycling appliances produces a large amount of recovered steel. Appliance recycling in the U.S. is continuing to grow. In 2001, more than 37 million appliances were recycled, producing more than 2 million tons of steel. This is enough steel to build more than 25 bridges the size of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California!

There are more than 12,500 appliance recycling locations throughout the United States.
