Steel Cans
- Steel cans are used to package more than 1500 different
kinds of food - everything from apples to zucchini. They are also
used for paints and aerosol sprays, pet foods, bandages, shoe polish,
and
hundreds of other uses.
- Steel cans often
have a thin coating of tin, to protect the food inside and prevent
rust on the outside.
- Steel cans contain
a minimum of 25% recycled content and are completely recyclable.
- There
are more than 20,000 locations across America that accept steel
cans for recycling.
- In 2000, more than 18 billion
steel cans were recycled into new products.
