Biodegradable Plastics, continued

Scientists are now coming up with ways to produce biodegradable plastics, using plant-based materials. These new plastics look and feel like normal plastic, but are being designed to break down in water and be compostable.

You can help reduce the amount of waste in your landfill by choosing to buy products and packaging made from biodegradable plastics, when possible. Remember, though, the best option is to reuse and recycle your plastic, and not let it go to a landfill at all!
