Recycling PaperAlmost all paper products can be recycled. You should check with your local recycling program officer to find out which paper products are recycled in your area, and how to recycle them. Paper must be clean and dry to be recycled. This means that paper which has been contaminated with food or drink spills cannot be recycled. But, because paper is made from plant material, it can be composted instead. Soiled paper napkins, tissues, paper towels, paper plates and cups, pizza boxes, dirty newspapers and waxed corrugated boxes can all be added to your compost bin, where they will decompose over time to form compost for your garden. All paper mills are different because of the types of paper they make. Some mills use old newspapers and magazines and turn them into new newsprint. Others take office paper and paper from printers and recycle it into new office paper or tissues. Other mills only take cardboard and recycle it into new cardboard. Office waste, newspapers and magazines can all be recycled into cardboard, but old cardboard can’t be used to make newsprint or office paper.
