Household Hazardous Waste, continued

Some people pour chemicals and paints onto their backyard or down stormwater drains. These chemicals join the stormwater system and are flushed into our waterways, killing the fish in our streams and polluting our beaches. Hazardous chemicals should never be poured down any drains or dumped on your lawn.

Many local governments have a free community clean-up day, when you can drop off all your household hazardous waste at one time. Contact your local government agency to find out about safe disposal of hazardous waste in your area.
