Why We Recycle Glass

Recycling glass saves energy, natural resources and landfill space. This is because cullet melts more easily than sand, so when factories use cullet, they can turn down the temperatures in their furnaces and save energy. Using cullet in place of other natural ingredients also saves natural resources.

Finally, when we throw things into the trash, we add to the amount of material going into landfill. Landfills continue to fill up with garbage, so by recycling glass containers and other items, we keep these materials out of landfills.
