Glass Recycling tips

It's easy to get your glass bottles and jars ready to be recycled:

  • Most colored glass containers - including clear, green and brown - can be recycled, but frosted or painted glass containers usually cannot be recycled. Check with your local recycling officer if you're unsure. If you are putting your containers out for curbside collection you won't need to separate them into colors, but if you are dropping them off at a recycling center, you may need to separate them into clear, green and brown.
  • Remove and discard all metal caps, lids and rings (labels can stay on).
  • Finally, you should rinse any leftover contents so your collection won't smell bad or attract ants and bees.
  • Keep collecting them this way until your recycling day - when you set them out for curbside collection or go with a parent to drop them off at a recycling center.
