Reusing in Other Countries

People who live in poorer countries often have fewer resources. So, they have had to come up with ways to make these resources last as long as possible. They do this by reusing things in their homes and communities and throwing away very little.

Families have learnt to eat wisely by not wasting any food. Many often buy products straight from a market to reduce packaging; reuse water on their gardens; repair clothes and other items; and share things like tools and machinery in their community.

People who live in the United States and other developed nations are beginning to understand that reusing things in the home and community saves resources. We can often learn this lesson from looking at how people live in other countries, and seeing the clever ideas that they come up with to save resources and produce less waste.
