Saving Water at Home, continued
In The Kitchen
- Wash your dishes by hand where possible – and wash them in a sink,
not under running water.
- If you use a dishwasher, make sure it is full and follow the instructions.
- Use the water efficient cycle in your dishwashing machine.
- When buying a dishwasher, choose one with a high water efficiency
rating (3A’s or higher).
- Wash vegetables and fruit in a bowl and not under running water.
- Don’t defrost food by placing it under a running tap
In The Laundry
- Only use your washing machine when it is full.
- Use the lowest possible water settings.
- When buying a washing machine, choose one with a high water efficiency
rating (3A’s or higher).
- Remember that front-loading washing machines use considerably less
water than top- loading washing machines.
