Compost Troubleshooting

Fixing your compost problems:

• Too wet – improve drainage, or add some dry compost ingredients like newspaper or sawdust.
• Too dry – water your compost, or add mushy organic matter like vegetable scraps.
• Pests – cover your compost with a lid or a thick layer of dirt. Don’t put in animal products.
• Taking too long – put in oxygen by stirring up the compost bin.
• Too smelly – might be too wet, not enough oxygen or animal products have been put in the compost bin.
