Solar Energy

The energy of the sun can be used to provide heat, light, hot water and electricity, and even to cool your home.

Sunlight can be converted directly into electricity by using devices called photovoltaic cells. Small cells are used to power watches and calculators, while large ones can create enough electricity for entire homes and businesses, and can even supply electricity to the electric grid of an entire town. At the moment though, photovoltaic cells are still quite costly to produce and buy.

The sun can also be used to directly heat water or air using solar heaters. Solar heaters can be easily installed in most homes and are a great way of providing free heating and hot water using a renewable energy source.
