Tomorrow’s Leaders for Sustainability (TLfS) - Workshops

On the 2nd & 3rd May 2008 Jane Stewart, Executive Producer of the Ollie Suite of Programs, together with Pat Armstrong, a leading Australian Facilitator in Sustainability Education, launched the second stage of the Tomorrow’s Leaders for Sustainability Program.  This saw them hold a Train the Teacher Workshop for teachers from a select group of schools in and around Melbourne.  The workshop was held at LaTrobe University with one session held at the neighbouring Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary.

This new initiative aims to help young people understand and appreciate the key principles and issues of sustainability while also gaining the knowledge and skills to become leaders in their chosen career. The program’s training in sustainability leadership is based on a holistic and interactive approach to learning that respects the student’s prior experience, knowledge and skills.

The objective is to help young people understand the world around them while also helping them develop the ability to think for themselves, communicate their thoughts and feelings, act on their own beliefs and help others act in an ethical and socially responsible way.

Forest Wood Products Australia (FWPA) logoThis second stage of the project, which will run for all of 2008, has been was funded by Forest Wood Products Australia Limited (FWPA) who can see the benefit of combining leadership training with hands on vocational projects.  For more information about FWPA see the FWPA information page.  (Pls note FWPA formerly known as Forest Wood Products Research Development Corporation)

The TLfS program will soon be supported by its own online forum, but until this is developed, all news in regards to this initiative will be housed on the Ollie’s Island website.

The new TLfS website has now been launched.
